The Cimarons story, the first UK band to embrace the thrilling new sound coming out of Jamaica.
With their 1968 hit Do the Reggay, Toots and the Maytals’ introduced reggae to the world. The sound soon spread to London, where Trojan records became a leading label in Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae and dub. Its house band, comprising a group of youngsters who met at north London youth centres, were destined to become a group in their own right. With the release of the 1974 album In Time, The Cimarons were born. Harder Than The Rock is a riveting account of this singular band and their rich history, a celebration of their longevity, and a fascinating look at the cultural and political importance of reggae.
